Putting Greens
What kind of shapes and slopes can you have on a putting green?
All of our putting greens can be custom shaped and sloped to the same characteristics of a natural turf putting green. We will create left-right, right-left and straight putts based on the size of the putting green.

What kind of green speeds can I expect on a FieldTurf putting green?
The average speed of our putting greens measure a 10 on the stimpmeter. The speed can be increased by using a roller or slowed by using a brush to stand the fibers more upright.

What kind of maintenance is required for the putting green?
The maintenance for a FieldTurf putting green is minimal. Maintenance consists of keeping the green free of debris which can be done with a low speed blower. Additionally, it is important to keep natural turf from growing in with the synthetic turf. This can be accomplished by spraying the encroaching natural turf with a product such a Round Up. The Round Up will not harm the synthetic turf and will prevent the encroaching natural turf from spreading. This can be done on an "as needed" basis.

Will a FieldTurf putting green receive a shot from the fairway?
Yes. FieldTurf putting greens are built to receive shots from the fairway and from around the green. Our patented infill of silica sand and cryogenic rubber provide a surface that will receive a shot very similar to that of a natural turf putting green. For longer shots, we install a shock pad underneath the turf for added effectiveness.

What is the putting green surface made of?
The synthetic turf is a polypropylene fiber. The infill is a combination of silica sand and cryogenic rubber.

What is the base material under the synthetic turf?
The base material is a combination of ¾ inch gravel stone and 3/8 inch stone dust. The stone is shaped and rolled to provide a solid foundation for the synthetic turf to be installed on.

Will the putting green drain?
Yes. Our putting greens are shaped to allow for 90% to 95% of the water (rain) to surface drain off the turf. The remaining water will be absorbed into the infill material.

What is the life expectancy for a FieldTurf putting green?
FieldTurf putting greens are warranted for 8 years.

Is there a minimum square footage for putting greens?
We recommend 250 square feet per hole and have minimum project sizes which are decided on a local or regional basis. Typically a green which is less than 800 square feet does not look realistic.

What is the warranty and how much does the warranty cost?
The synthetic turf is warranted for 8 years and the installation work is warranted for 1 year. The warranty is included in the price of installation.

Will the turf fade from UV or is it protected?

Can the artificial grass be damaged?
The grass can be damaged by intentional vandalism or open flame, however, it can usually be cleaned with typical cleaning solvents. In the case of a burn (as from a cigar), the surface could be patched using replacement materials. The surfaces are flame resistant, but will melt under open flame.

Are maintenance plans available?
Installers or dealers are available for routine maintenance visits if desired. These cost-effective plans can ensure the products are maintained at the highest level.

I've heard that the rubber infill materials used in artificial grass may float. Is that true, and will that cause any problems during heavy rains?
The rubber used in our infill process is cryogenically treated. That means it has been through a process to eliminate air particles from the rubber by freezing it to extreme temperatures during the pulverization process. Removing the air makes the crumb rubber less likely to float. Just after a new installation, a small amount of rubber is lost from the top of the surface. This is expected, planned for, and presents no negative impact on the artificial grass.
Why is rubber used in the infill process?
The cryogenic rubber used in the infill is specially designed to prevent compaction of the infill and maintain a soft, realistic feel to the grass. Sand, alone, may compact over time. The rubber prevents this compaction, and is the only process we have identified which is effective, regardless of the shape of the sand.

Do you manufacture your own grass?
